Yves Saint Laurent

Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent was an internationally renowned French fashion designer who founded the fashion company Yves Saint Laurent in Paris in 1961 with his partner Pierre Bergé. The company specialised in haute couture, ready-to-wear, leather accessories and shoes. Saint Laurent’s own cosmetics line is owned by L’Oréal. In 1966, Saint Laurent shocked and revolutionised the fashion world with his design “Le Smoking”, a dinner jacket suit for women. YSL is also considered the initiator of ready-to-wear fashion.
